Right around the holidays I was invited to photograph a Christmas party hosted by the very talented Mrs. Michelle Wright of Michelle Wright Events. Michelle is an event planner and for her holiday themed party she wanted to recreate the look and feel of the book/movie, The Hunger Games. With a meticulous eye for detail and with the help of several local vendors, she brought to life two well known locations from the book: the meager life of the Districts and the extravagant abundance Capitol. The party began as guests arrived in their finest Hunger Games attire.
Michelle was extremely pleased with each of the vendors represented at the party. She spoke very highly of them! If you interested creating something special for your next big event then Michelle Wright Events is the place to start!

Beauty | Greensboro Photographer
I've already posted this photo on my FB page but I wanted to add it to my blog as well. In the brainstorming stage of this project I new I wanted to use a model and a tree of some sort. My original idea was that using her body the model was going to mimic the twisted beauty of a tree's branches. As I traveled around looking for the perfect tree I happened upon this gorgeous thing. The base of this one tree had opened up to reveal these amazing designs within. It was even more than I could have hoped for and perfect for the photo I wanted to create. The model was also a dream and really understood how to move her body to create these elegant lines. One of the things I love about conceptual photos such as this is that the viewer is able to create their own story line. I have my own intentions of what the photo is but I find it fascinating to hear how other people interpret it. I've heard some really neat stories so far. It makes my heart happy to be able to invite individuals to daydream with me and use their imaginations!

Princess and Pirate | Greensboro Photographer
There are many concentrations within the photography field and it's very common for photographers to move back and forth between them. However you will often find that a photographer has one concentration that is hands down their all time favorite. For me the area of photography that I absolutely love is conceptual photography. Essentially with this type of photography you generate an idea/concept, gather costumes/props, and build your photo session around that theme. This opens up a world of possibilities! If you can think it up, we can work out a plan to make your photographs a reality. What fun!
For her four year old photo session this big girl wanted to dress up as a princess and pirate. Together her family and I brainstormed ideas and props. Miss E had a ball role playing the different characters. You can check out some of her other photo sessions here:

Can you guess that photographs are becoming a yearly event for this family? :) Yearly photo sessions are a wonderful way to document the growth of your little ones. They grow and change so fast. It's important to have something that you can look back to remind you of their cute chubby cheeks, beautiful bright eyes and adorable smiles. Photographs help generate those memories and can be passed on to the future generations.
And now for Princess E...

Conceptual Photography Workshop
Conceptual Portrait Photography
This past weekend ROCKED my little photography world in such an AWESOME way! On Friday and Saturday I attended a photography workshop presented by the VERY talented Heather Evans Smith (www.heatherevanssmith.com). Heather is a conceptual portrait photographer from Winston-Salem. In her two day workshop we not only learned what makes her mind tick but also how to unlock our own imaginations. On Saturday we had the opportunity to work with two beautiful models in two truly inspiring locations. Our first stop was at this crazy old antique store/house. Everywhere you turned there was something new to look at! It's one of those places you drive by and think... I wonder what treasures they have in there. Our second location was at an old farm house... with chickens! Our time here was cut a bit short due to a massive storm that came blowing through. It was so neat though to sit on the front porch and watch the wind whipping through the trees and hear the rain pounding on the roof. I think this weekend confirmed my decision to move full time into photography. I LOVE what I do!
A BIG, BIG thank you to Heather for putting this workshop together! You are AWESOME!

Great let's run with it. You want a photo shoot like this but not so sure what you would like to do? No problem. We'll put on our creative thinking caps together.
Each photograph portrays a concept... it tells a story. Some stories are seen by the me, the photographer. Other stories are created by you, the viewer. What story is it speaking to you?.....
