A couple of months ago my husband mentioned that he really wanted to do yearly photos of kids. I quickly agreed but decided to wait until the weather was a bit warmer (at that time it seemed like we were having snow storms every other weekend!). So once spring had sprung I decided to go ahead and take the kids to a park for their photos. Sadly neither child was very interested in having their photo taken that day. Talk about G-R-U-M-P-Y! So the photos are not your happy smile at the camera deal but I still love the moodiness of them. Besides, God loves us even on our grumpiest of days.

Beauty | Greensboro Photographer
I've already posted this photo on my FB page but I wanted to add it to my blog as well. In the brainstorming stage of this project I new I wanted to use a model and a tree of some sort. My original idea was that using her body the model was going to mimic the twisted beauty of a tree's branches. As I traveled around looking for the perfect tree I happened upon this gorgeous thing. The base of this one tree had opened up to reveal these amazing designs within. It was even more than I could have hoped for and perfect for the photo I wanted to create. The model was also a dream and really understood how to move her body to create these elegant lines. One of the things I love about conceptual photos such as this is that the viewer is able to create their own story line. I have my own intentions of what the photo is but I find it fascinating to hear how other people interpret it. I've heard some really neat stories so far. It makes my heart happy to be able to invite individuals to daydream with me and use their imaginations!
Impromptu Session | Asheboro Photographer
This past week we had an impromptu session at a beautiful church in Asheboro, NC. I had a great model for the session and to be such a last minute thing I really love the photos!

My Goofy Two | Winston-Salem Photographer
I love posting photos of my two little ones. They're beautiful kids and so sweet and innocent looking. Well all that may be true but don't let them fool you! They make me work to get to those photos! They have a knack for making the craziest faces right as I'm about to press the shutter.
So at your next photo session with me don't worry if it is you're kid that's acting like the goof ball. Now you know that I completely understand! Never fear though, we'll make sure to capture some of those sweet and innocent moments too!
This one just makes me laugh!
As a reward for being awesome little models they ate ice cream under the shade of an old oak tree...

Ok, so these next two aren't super goofy but I still thought they were cute...

My Two
To celebrate new beginnings I wanted to have a quick photo shoot with my two little ones. My big boy is starting Kindergarten this year! I'm so proud of him! And my youngest has moved into the three year old classroom at her preschool. I'm completely biased but I think she is absolutely adorable! I love, love, love these two!!!!
She's not really sad in this photo... it's just the face she wanted to make. My silly girl!
Here we go! The first day of Kindergarten! Congrats buddy!

Baby E!!!
I'm more than a little excited to share this post with you! I may be a little biased but I think Baby E is one of the prettiest babies around... and I can say that because I'm her aunt! A few weeks ago Baby E's Mom and Dad welcomed her into the world.
You can see their photo shoots here:

Hmmm... that's a lot of photos of this boy and his wifie... I guess this means I like them just a little. :)
Baby E did the typical newborn thing and slept through her entire photo shoot... remaining absolutely adorable the whole time!
This last photo is of my two little ones and their newest baby cousin! They weren't too sure what to think of her... she was cute but yup... just a baby. :)

Conceptual Photography Workshop
Conceptual Portrait Photography
This past weekend ROCKED my little photography world in such an AWESOME way! On Friday and Saturday I attended a photography workshop presented by the VERY talented Heather Evans Smith (www.heatherevanssmith.com). Heather is a conceptual portrait photographer from Winston-Salem. In her two day workshop we not only learned what makes her mind tick but also how to unlock our own imaginations. On Saturday we had the opportunity to work with two beautiful models in two truly inspiring locations. Our first stop was at this crazy old antique store/house. Everywhere you turned there was something new to look at! It's one of those places you drive by and think... I wonder what treasures they have in there. Our second location was at an old farm house... with chickens! Our time here was cut a bit short due to a massive storm that came blowing through. It was so neat though to sit on the front porch and watch the wind whipping through the trees and hear the rain pounding on the roof. I think this weekend confirmed my decision to move full time into photography. I LOVE what I do!
A BIG, BIG thank you to Heather for putting this workshop together! You are AWESOME!

Did you know that we can setup a photo shoot like this for you!? Working together we can figure out concepts, props, wardrobe, setting, etc all specific to you. Have an idea!? Great let's run with it. You want a photo shoot like this but not so sure what you would like to do? No problem. We'll put on our creative thinking caps together.
Each photograph portrays a concept... it tells a story. Some stories are seen by the me, the photographer. Other stories are created by you, the viewer. What story is it speaking to you?.....
